(Continued entry from guest blogger Terribilis)
I have had great trouble understanding the mixed messages God has sent down to us on this issue. The Bible says homosexuality is wrong. Yet so many priests in the Catholic Church and in greater Christianity have made worldwide headlines for engaging in pedophilia against children (mostly boys) over a prolonged period of decades if not longer.
Maybe our tiny inferior human brains cannot yet comprehend some greater picture God has revealed to us?
If so, what is God saying? Surely He would not allow rampant worldwide Church-condoned pedophilia to be carried out by priests if He thought it was wrong.
Sure, priests get arrested or accused of the act all the time; so one might argue that is proof God views Church pedophilia as un-Godly. But is society framing this debate correctly?
In asking if pervasive Church pedophilia is wrong, the secular world says yes. This results in priests getting arrested. But all good Christians know better. The real question to ask is if God sees ubiquitous Church pedophilia as repugnant. It could be argued, given the evidence, He does not.
God knows what is in every man and priest’s heart. He has stocked the Catholic Church with select individuals, many of whom are later accused of crimes against children while performing duties as ministers of God. I don’t mean a few bad apples here and there; we are talking potentially thousands of such priests and countless victims. So again, is this part of the divine plan? In that case, I believe God will restore his faithful priests to their rightful standing once they enter His kingdom in the next life.
Moreover, if most Catholics don’t believe this why are there still so many adherents to the religion? Why aren’t there mass protests of Catholics across the world demanding answers? Publically they rebuke pedophile priests and label him as a small minority bad apple. And then they move on continuing as Catholics, with blinders on, as if there is no elephant in the room. Why does is there no collective organized rage to stamp out this issue?
I didn’t mean to get so far off track, but much like I wanted to give you an accurate picture of me and my evilness I also wanted to put some context to this issue surrounding our priest. He’s under Church-imposed house arrest, and the Bishop has even assigned some new priest fresh out of the seminary to cover and lead the local flock during this dark time.
I’m guessing there will probably be an arrest by the police this week, if the news is to be believed. The court of public opinion has already relegated the poor priest to the gallows. Sigh. I suppose it’s time for me to pay our priest-gone-astray a visit tonight while he is still ‘free’. Like I said, I’m a familiar and welcome face to him. I will have no problem getting into his dwelling with him, alone. I will make sure he does not have to suffer the injustices of this modern world. He has done so much good, but made an alleged secular mistake in the secular world. If God wants this I want this. And my dear old priest will eventually desire as much, too.
I will help restore him to his place alongside God.
