I'm trying to pen a super short story in which a crew of a starship has to orbit a neutron star. Now from what I've gleaned off of the World Wide Web, those things are dangerous.
But still, why not orbit one anyways?
Consequently I sent a question to a kinda famous and young physicist on Facebook asking about orbiting neutron stars, and time dilation, et cetera. The physicist must be busy because she hasn't responded to my query as of yet (LOL) but now I'm stuck.
I don't mind writing stories that violate some of the known laws of physics but I want to respect anyone that's will to take the time to read my scribblings. I really sorta kinda wanna nail the physics in the story.
There's more than one way to skin a cat. I suppose I'll Facebook some other physicists, but maybe ones that are slightly less known. Maybe I'll get an answer...?
