Shopper on the Verge of Death, the second illustrated story in the Lycos Anthropos collection will hopefully one day be translated into Japanese.
In the meantime some dear Japanese friends have given me various ways to say the title, or something like it, in their native tongue. The candidates include:
今にも死にそうな客, which means something like At the Point of Death;
今にも死にそうな買い物客, which might mean This was at the Point of Death Shoppers;
and (my favorite)
危篤の買い物客 (transliteration: Kitoku no Kaimonokyaku), which might mean Shopper Critically Ill.
I started drawing the Marrow Bones in earnest in 2014 February. Turned out to be about 50 pages worth of individual panels. I had no idea what an undertaking it would be. As of 2 May 2015 I can officially say the story is pretty much done and published on this website.
However there are a few areas I need to go back and tweek. One of the most glaring areas concerns the story's continuity just when Quisenberry and Russell see the monster for the first time. Also, I'll have to go back and redraw a few panels, but I don't want to get too crazy with that because I know it'll never be good enough in my mind.
One day I'll even get around to rescanning all the images so that there's consistency in panels from page to page. I'll work on adding more contrast, too.
But for now I just want to have a beer and relax for a second... and get the new story going.
